Hi, I’m Courtney, a multidisciplinary artist passionate about building a sense of place and community within urban environments through art and music. My ideal environment is colorful, in buildings, in plants, in fashion, and in energy. It is inherently biomimetic, drawing inspiration and technique from the ecological place it inhabits and species around it. It is built on intergenerational organizing; grandmas through school-children working together in community gardens, churning compost, and learning from each other. The whole community deeply values learning and there are libraries and low-cost classes offered around the city. The city contains community centers with connections to a variety of organizations and resources, showcasing the interactions between disciplines that is inherent to the entire space. There is above ground public transit, including cable cars that ride above the streets, leaving them open for pedestrians and bikers. Outside these cable cars one can see species and species of birds, hearing their calls overlap and interact, and at night they are the best way to see the vast stars overhead. In this city, our neighbors would also be our politicians, people just like us making decisions on our behalves, as our needs would overlap. Finally, this city would be one of art and music. Live bands, communities dancing and singing together, airwaves of the radios enlivening our shops, barbers, and cafeterias. My colorful city is both vibrant and self-assured.
Working hard to one day live in the future that I dream of now.
